2010 MEDICAL CONSENT AND INFORMATION FORM

RESURRECTION 2010
We’ll be heading to Gatlinburg January 15-17, 2010 for this favorite retreat.  We’re staying in cabins again this year, but much closer to the convention center.  This means that our space will be limited to the first 45 youth who register! After 45, we’ll add youth to a waiting list and reserve an additional cabin if we can.

Mandatory Parent and Youth Meeting regarding RESURRECTION trip will be January 10 at 5:00pm in Triplett Hall.

BRAND NEW YOUTH PROGRAM 7th-10th GRADES!!
Sunday nights this fall our 7th-10th Grade youth will meet in Sacred Grounds in the youth department from 5-7 pm.  Each week we will have entertaining games, exciting contests, great snacks and challenging discussion.  It all starts September 13th.

JUNIOR AND SENIOR SMALL GROUPS
Beginning September 13th, our juniors and seniors will gather weekly in various locations for food, fellowship, and deep discussions designed to movtivate and challenge our youth in their faith!

The mission of Broad Street's youth ministry is to love Christ, to love our neighbors, to grow in faith, and to have fun!  It focuses on four significant aspects of Christian life.

Spiritual Growth -

  • Our youth share their gifts in worship through the youth choir, N*Light*N.  The choir also shared the message of Jesus as they traveled to Johnson City in March and will show Christ's love to the homeless community of Knoxville in November.
  • Sunday School is a very important part of our youth's faith development.  Our middle school youth learn biblical principles and Christian beliefs each week, building on their experience in Confirmation.  Our high school youth focus on putting their faith into practice and in learning to challenge themselves in their faith journey.
  • Youth find deep friendships, a growing faith, and a sense of Christian community through our small groups program.  As they become accountable to the others in their group, they find a place to wrestle with the great issues of growing up as a follower of Christ.

Fellowship -

  • FUSION events provide an opportunity for the youth as a whole to come together as a faith community.  These monthly opportunities include Bible Study, service projects, and just-for-fun activities.  Perhaps the biggest FUSION event every year is Resurrection, a weekend of spiritual renewal in Gatlinburg, TN.  This has long been an entry point for new or newly recommitted youth.

Christian Service -

  • Youth have an opportunity to live out their faith by serving as shepherds to the children at Vacation Bible School and Wonders in the Woods.
  • With the church's support, our youth came together to build a home with Habitat for Humanity, even providing assistance on two others.

Leadership Development -

  • After a challenging summer filled with Christian service and deep faith discussions, our older youth have recognized a need to take ownership of their faith journey.  Desiring to have a during-the-school-week reminder that being a Christian is an all the time commitment, we've started weekly self-motivated and student-led Bible study/discussion groups.
