LUNCH BUNCH- For all the Young at Heart
OLDER ADULTS MINISTRY. We meet every Wednesday at 11:15am in the Parlor. Lunch is $7. RSVP to 423.476.5586 by Tuesday. Everyone is invited; we look forward to seeing many new faces and friends.

PROMISE SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS WILL HOST CHURCHWIDE FELLOWSHIP
It’s time to TUMBLE into the new school year! The Promise Sunday School class, led by Kim and Joel Kailing and Donna and Kim Parker will be hosting a fellowship night for kids and their parents at the Chattanooga Gymnastics Center in Ooltewah from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, July 30th. Families with kids from toddlers to teens are welcome to attend! All are welcome, and you do not have to be a member of the Promise Class to attend. We will have the party room set up with pizza, fruit, chips, drinks, and desserts. Families can eat and enjoy visiting and watching the kids jump and play. If you would like to attend, please contact Christy Duncan through the church office (423 476-5586) by Thursday, July 27th, and let her know the number of adults and kids that will be coming. The event is FREE to all families who would like to come. We hope to have a great crowd!
Our church will be hosting Family Promise families the week of August 6-12. Please contact Sherry Hogue through the church office 423 476-5586 if you would like to help in this ministry in any of the following ways:
- Providing snacks
- Providing a meal one night
- Being an Evening Host one night (5:30pm-8:30pm)
- Being an Overnight Host one night (8:30pm-7:00am).
Family Promise helps families with children to find sustainable housing as they work through a 3-month program. Many area churches are involved, and Broad Street UMC hosts families four weeks each year.
DISTRICT OLDER ADULT EVENT- September 25- Westwood Baptist Pavilion - 10:30
Maggie Copper from Asbury, Inc, Kingsport will be our guest. She will discuss problems of aging and how to deal with them, prevention of falls, exercise as we age, and other topics. There will be singing, devotional, and of course, lunch provided free. RSVP by September 18 to Jackie through the church office. 423 476-5586
Tuesday night Women's Bible Study continues this next week, July 25, 6 pm in the Garden Plaza community lounge on the 5th floor. Join us as we move into the New Testament and hear "Mary, Mother of Jesus" and her story of moving from comfort to courage. The key scripture this week is Luke 1:26-38. We are enjoying gathering with familiar faces and meeting new friends, too. We'd love to see you next week! There are plenty of seats......come share "summertime storytelling" with us.
The Family Promise of Bradley County Fundraiser Luncheon will be held Monday, July 24, 12-1 PM at First United Methodist Church, 3425 N. Ocoee Street.

Mission team of 14 leaves July 8-15, 2017, for Morazan, Honduras. We will work in our medical clinic, holdBible school (fun and games) and do some small projects, painting, repairs.

Pentecost Sunday was truly a wonderful celebration of the church! Worshippers experienced the Spirit of God through the music, the word, and the sacraments. We were reminded to be grateful for this beautiful place we have to worship together as a community of faith. Sunday, July 2 we come together for our next ONE SERVICE at 10:45 in the sanctuary. We will welcome Micah Nicolaus and his family, and commission our Honduras Mission Team.
Mark your calendars now and plan to attend. (We will postpone our monthly service of Holy Communion to July 9.) All singers who would like to be in the combined choir, please plan to rehearse Wednesdays, June 21 and 28 at 7:20 pm in the choir room.
The Staff Parish Team invites you to attend a reception on July 2 to welcome our new pastor, Micah Nicolaus and his family. This will take place immediately following the ONE SERVICE, weather permitting, in the garden.
One service Sunday, June 4th. We will celebrate PENTECOST, and CONFIRMATION SUNDAY as one church family. Everyone is invited to worship together in the sanctuary at 10:45am for a combined service, led by both Rev. Randy Martin and Rev. Skip White.

THE INTERNATIONAL DINNER AND VARIETY SHOW Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 5:30 PM, International Dinner and Variety Show for the whole church. It is like the old-fashioned pot-luck supper, but with the twist that the foods are themed to countries!
Next meeting is on Friday, April 28th, 2017 , 9:30-11:30 am in the Parlor. Be sure to register to let us know you're coming! Childcare is available (included in registration form). Bring a snack to share!
OVER 80 LUNCHEON April 23, at noon in Triplett Hall. PLEASE RSVP to 476-5586 or Jackie. Honorees are our guests. All others, family and friends, are $10. This is a special, fun day to honor those in our church family over 80, over 90, and even over 100. All honorees should have received an invitation. Be among the first to visit the empty tomb and celebrate the resurrection of Christ in the quiet setting at Hurt Lodge. We will share a light breakfast together following the service.

Service of Holy Communion and Tenebrae
This Holy Night, we will observe the events of the Last Supper and the night in the Garden of Gethsemane, which led to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The sanctuary will be progressively darkened and the altar stripped and draped in black to prepare for Good Friday. Special music will be sung by The BSUMC Women's Choir.

Palm Sunday, April 9
The children will lead the procession with palms into the sanctuary, as we celebrate Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. "Hosanna, Hosanna to the King!" The Children's and Adult Choirs willl sing in the sanctuary, while N*Light*N Youth Choir sings in Connections.
Join us for Art on the Town!
This is a free community event held on Sunday, April 2nd, 3-5 pm in the Broad Street parking lot. We'll have different art stations, performances by latino dance groups and a magician, and food!

There will be an Ash Wednesday Service in the sanctuary on March 1 at 6:15 pm. N*Light*N and Chancel Choirs will sing for the service, and Pastors Randy Martin and Skip White will preside. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the season of preparation for celebrating Easter and our theme is "Journey to the Cross". In the service, we confront our own mortality and confess our sin before God within the community of faith. The use of ashes, marking the sign of the cross, is a powerful experiential way of participating in the call to repentance and reconciliation with Christ.
JOIN US on Tuesday, February 28 at 5:30pm, we will have our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. Come and help cook sausage, flip pancakes or just enjoy eating with the Unity Community! February 25-26 in the Knoxville / Pigeon Forge area. We will be staying at the Wilderness at the Smokies and visiting a homeless shelter and Holston Home for Children. Promises to be a wonderful time! More info to come.
The children of Broad Street are having a great time on Wednesday evenings singing together, playing drums and handbells, dancing, and learning about how we worship God. We are going to begin rehearsals for our Spring Musical next week, February 15, at 6:35 in the children's choir room.
ALL CHILDREN, whether you like to sing or not, ARE INVITED to be a part of the program .
According to numerous studies, today’s teenagers are more stress out than ever before. Over 6 million teens deal with some kind of anxiety disorder. Pressure from school, work, sports, social media, peers, church and families are giving teens a large amount of stress. Please join us for this two part series on Stress and Anxiety. It will be well worth your time!
