END OF YEAR LUAU AND VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION
It has been a great year for Wednesday Nights at Broad Street! To celebrate, we are having an end of year luau with pizza and an ice cream bar at 6:00pm in Triplett Hall on May 23. If you have been part of any of the Wednesday night activities, either as a volunteer or participant, we encourage you to come. This is a great opportunity for our families to come together to celebrate the end of the school year activities.

MAY 20th IS PENTECOST SUNDAY, the birthday of the church! Our 2018 Class of Confirmands will be received for baptism and confirmation in the 10:45 sanctuary service. Rev. Micah Nicolaus will be preaching, and our Children's Choirs and Jubilee Dancers will share a special musical offering. Adam Reuss will be preaching in Living Water/Living Spirit and Connections services. Everyone is invited to wear something RED to church on May 20th!
N*Light*N Youth Choir will have their annual end-of-the-year concert Sunday evening, May 6th at 6:30pm. A reception will follow the concert in Triplett Hall honoring our seven graduating seniors. The concert, which will be held in the sanctuary, will consist of thirteen songs, including solo numbers by two members, Hayden Sweeny and Greg Jordan. The program includes contemporary Christian music as well as a gospel medley featuring older hymns
LET'S SHOW OUR APPRECIATION
Broad Street United Methodist Church wants to say goodbye to Skip, Victoria, and Charlie White in a real Broad Street style. There will be a reception for them in the gym Sunday, May 6 at 9:30am, or immediately following the 8:30/8:45 worship services. To show our appreciation for all they have meant to us over the past six years, we want to present them with a monetary gift. You may drop off your gift in the church office.
Our next Family Promise host week will be April 29- May 6. We will be hosting a family or families who are trying to save the money necessary to get back on their feet and into affordable rental housing. If you would like to assist with our host activities, please contact Alan Goslen through the church office 423 476 5586. We currently need a meal on Wednesday evening, May 2, and a pair of evening hosts on Saturday, May 5, to eat with the families at 5:30pm and host them until 8:30 that evening.
We would love to have you join us for breakfast with the Children's and youth ministry this, Sunday April 22nd during Sunday School 9:30-10:30am. This is a "come and go" event, feel free to pop in and then head to the Sunday School you attend or stay and hang out! All ages are invited to come and see the changes we have made in location, meet the amazing volunteers who give of their hearts and time to serve the younger generation of our church and meet Broad Streets children and youth. We are excited to see you all Sunday Morning!
OVER 80 LUNCHEON—April 15 in Triplett Hall following the 10:45 worship services. Those who are 80 or more will be our honored guests. (So if you or someone else in the church will be 80+ years old by the end of this year, make sure that the church office has your birth date....we don’t want anyone to be left out!) We are so happy to say we have over 450 pictures of members and constituents that were taken during February. Thank you for helping this happen. We are so thankful for Tara Brown, Kelly Seo, Lou Horner and Donna Spain who helped with this project. Now, we would to get those persons we missed. We feel like we should be able to reach 600. We will be taking picture in THE LINK and upstairs at the children's and youth check in booth beginning early Easter Sunday. Please help us reach our goal of over 600.

Before we can fully receive the joy of the Resurrection on Easter, we must first walk with Jesus through the darkness of Good Friday. We will hear the story through scripture readings, hymns, anthems, and spiritual songs, as candles are extinguished and the sanctuary is progressively darkened. The service will end in silence, as the altar is stripped and draped in black to symbolize the death of Jesus on the cross.

All four Sunday morning services will celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry to Jerusalem, with the waving of palm branches and singing, “Hosanna!, Hosanna, to the King!” All the children are invited to be a part of the Palm Sunday Procession!
THREE SIMPLE RULES STUDY FOR ADULTS
Starting on March 7th, we will offer a new 6-week study for Adults on Wednesday nights. We will focus on Ruben Job’s ‘Three Simple Rules: a Wesleyan Way of Life’. Together, we will deepen our understanding and practice of Christian faith. We will explore the rules of “Do No Harm,” “Do Good,” and “Stay in Love with God." The study will start at 6:00pm in Triplett Hall and be led by Jarrod Suits. Great opportunity for anyone looking for a Lenten/Easter Season Study. All adults are invited and even if you have done this study before, please come as we explore new topics related to the three rules.
"Friends in Christ" Unity Center Sunday
We are happy to celebrate the ministry of Unity Center this Sunday (March 4) during our worship services. Many of our students will be singing and several of our youth will be sharing about the ministry as seen "through the eyes of" different people. All of the Unity Center community would like to say thank you for the countless ways Broad Street supports this ever expanding outreach. The Unity Community doors are always open and there is a place for you because "we are God's family one and all!"
PANCAKE Supper on February 13, 5:45 pm

HONDURAS - The mission team of 11 leaves February 10, for a week in Morazan, Honduras. The primary goal is the installation of another clean water system in San Fernando, a small community of 190 houses, 800 people, two schools and two churches, one Catholic and one Protestant.
