One way to find out is to attend the Church Council meeting on Tuesday, May 21 at 5:30pm in the church parlor. Everyone who is interested in the workings of our church and the ministries that we are involved in should come. You don't have to be a member of the Church Council to attend. Everyone is welcome.
Sunday, May 5 at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary, we will have an inter-generational worship arts celebration. The children and adult ensembles will be combining to share music and artistic offerings they have prepared during Wednesday Nights this spring. Come and enjoy the worship and fellowship with the Jubilee dancers, beginning and advanced Handbell choirs, Children's choirs, and even the Ukeleles!

Good Friday Tennebrae Service April 19 - at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary.
Our Combined Adult Choir and chamber musicians will present "Seven Last Words," by John Michael Trotta. We will hear our pastors speak about seven scripture passages from the Gospels and learn what Jesus was saying to humanity during his last hours on earth. The altar will be stripped and draped in black after the candles have all been extinguished and the sky grows dark.
CHANGES TO THIS SUNDAY'S MORNING SCHEDULE
Remembering that we are one body unified in Christ, there will be one service at 8:30am in Triplett Hall and one service at 10:45am in the Sanctuary. Both services will include worship elements from all our different worship services. In addition, we will have an all church gathering at 9:30am in Triplett Hall. Pastor Micah will discuss the outcome of the General Conference during this time. All are invited to attend.
The Johnston Woods Ministry Team is hosting a quarterly Volunteer Day at Johnston Woods to help make it as beautiful as possible. Please join us! We'll provide coffee and donuts when you arrive! Wear general work clothes. The work won't be extensive but you could get dirty.
On Saturday, February 23rd, the United Methodist Church will convene a special called session of General Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The purpose of this General Conference is to address issues surrounding human sexuality. For those of us here at home, the greatest action we can take is to cover these proceedings with prayer. With this in mind, you are invited to participate in an informal time of prayer that morning at 8 am in the Sanctuary.
MISSION TEAM RETURNS TO HONDURAS FEBRUARY 16-23, 2019
We will install our 8th clean water system in Nueva Esperanza. Since our July trip was canceled, we have already reserved tickets for the February trip. We need people who will work in the medical clinic, with the water team, and the water teaching team. We have a lot of fun, fellowship and good food. Our church has the honor of hosting this year's Cleveland area Night to Shine! If you aren't familiar with this amazing ministry it is a Prom night started by the Tim Tebow foundation to bring an incredible prom experience for those with special needs. The main event is February 8th.
There will be a pancake breakfast in Triplett hall January 19th 8:30am-10:30am to raise money for night to shine. It is $5 for breakfast, you can get your ticket in the LINK this Sunday or at the door the morning of. If you are considering volunteering for the Prom night you will need to go through a training. Join us January 16th for a special kick off of our Wednesday Night on Broad program. Our special guest speaker, Father Stephen Freeman will discuss the topic of shame from a Biblical, historical, cultural and psychological perspective. Father Stephen was educated at Furman University, Seabury-Western Theological University and Duke University where he studied with Stanley Hauerwas. He is an author and popular podcast host. Father Stephen is currently the priest at St. Anne Orthodox Church in Oak Ridge. This is a one time only program, so make sure to save the date!

An intergenerational Advent Experience. Wednesday, December 19th at 6pm. Get ready to be immersed in the story of Christs birth. You will be using all of your senses as you journey through the incredible happenings surrounding the birth of Christ. This intergenerational experience will have something for all ages to enjoy!

The whole church family will gather in the sanctuary to light the Advent candles, the Chrismon Tree, hang the garlands and see the room brightened with red poinsettias. You are invited to come and sing carols with the choirs, hear the handbells ring, and learn from the prophets in scripture about the coming King, Emmanuel, the Messiah
Please remember our upcoming Charge Conference meeting November 11, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Parlor. During our meeting we will approve the preliminary budget for 2019, elect leaders and officers, and discuss our ministry and mission plans for the upcoming year.
